Sandisk | First / Basic Patent | Flash Storage Pioneers | 200GB Memory Card - World’s Highest Capacity microSD™ Card

SanDisk Corporation, an American multinational corporation, a pioneer in flash memory storage solutions and software, was founded in 1988 by Dr. Eli Harari, Jack Yuan and Sanjay Mehrotra, non-volatile memory technology experts.

Ofcourse Sandisk had rocked the memory space with CompactFlash Cards, and many similar innovations, and it has been named as one of the top global innovators by many respected bodies including Thomson Reuters and IEEE Spectrum, but this, this is super awesome.
200GB* SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC™ UHS-I card, Premium Edition
What I referred to as 'this' is the fact that it r
ecently unveiled the World’s Highest Capacity microSD™ Card, that packs a whopping 200 GB in a nail size inny-winny card. Imagine that!

When thinkPat took to the task of unearthing the original patent that started it all for Sandisk, we came across US5297148A claiming a priority of 1989 assigned to Sandisk Corp, titled 'Memory card connectable to a computer system'

Now this one has Eliyahou Harari, Robert D. Norman, and Sanjay Mehrotra as inventors.

But looking further back, we can find earlier filings with only Eli Harari as the sole assignee - such as 'Highly compact eprom and flash eeprom devices'

US5095344A, that claims the priority of 1988, the founding year of Sandisk.

There are even more similar single assignee patents - 'Method of forming non-volatile EPROM and EEPROM with increased efficiency'US4409723A, going as back as 1980.

And this is understandable since Eli was an expert in memory.
Skipping these, if we focus on patents marking Sandisk as the assignee, we reach to the true gem, the very first Sandisk Patent/

So for the basic patent or the the very first foundation patent of Sandisk, we can safely select
US5297148A.

Now this is a big milestone for memory cards, but, remember - We said the same thing when we had a 1 GB memory card.
